Before turning to Simply Social for their organic Instagram and Facebook management, the Sunset Café social media pages were managed by various employees and even the owners.

Once the world began to feel a sense of normalcy after the COVID-19 pandemic, Kyla White became the Sunset’s Social Media Manager in April 2021. For the first time, followers were seeing photos with staff members, behind-the-scenes videos, and engaging stories.

To this day, we continue to manage their social media content with the goal of sharing their unique story with locals and travelers. The numbers show great progress!

Strategy in Year 1 primarily focused on reaching residents of Kittitas County. The Sunset Café began posting almost daily by sharing the day’s specials, highlighting outstanding staff, and showcasing videos of the country casual dining experience.

Facebook saw the most growth, and a major factor was joining local Facebook groups to reach users who didn’t follow the Sunset already. This was essential as business began to pick up again after a slow year due to the pandemic.

Year 1 Analytics

In Year 2, we chose to shift our content towards a quality-over-quantity approach and began targeting I-90 travelers during the summer and holiday seasons. We scaled back the number of times we posted each week to just three or four while elevating the content that we were creating.

High-level photography and videography became more of a focus. We continued to post in local Facebook groups, but we also began partnering with other local businesses to highlight why dining at the Sunset is so special (hint: they only source local ingredients!).

Year 2 Analytics

Year 3 saw the most explosive growth yet, especially on Facebook. Facebook views increased 257%, reaching over 228,000 users!

One key to increasing reach in Year 3 was collaborating with other local businesses. The Sunset Cafe did several posts “shouting out” other businesses in Cle Elum that they work with (Owens Meats, Mule & Elk Brewing Co., Glondo’s Sausage Company, and more).

Simply Social even visited Owens Meats to show a complete beginning to end process making a burger at the Sunset Cafe, from picking up the product to grinding the meat and serving.

In 2022, Simply Social created the very first iteration of the Sunset Café & Loose Wolf Saloon’s website.

Before this collaboration, the Sunset had no online presence outside of their Facebook and Instagram pages. Today, the website has seen over 20,000 unique visitors! Simply Social wrote 100% of the copy on the site, took all photos and videos featured, and built the entire website from scratch.

The site also boasts a healthy bounce rate of 36%, meaning that well over half of users visit more than one page on the website rather than “bouncing” after seeing the home page.
